Lovers Lane, a new thriller by director Brad Armstrong, is a wonderfully refined piece of filmmaking; a film that blends and balances suspense, drama, humor, and some really good cunnilingus shots.

OK, Lovers Lane is a porno. Yet it's also a well-crafted thriller with a strong storyline, convincing acting, and a plot that almost makes you want to fast-forward the sex scenes to solve the film's central mystery (in other words, to find out 'whodunnit' as opposed to 'who's doin' it').

Devinn Lane shines as Sarah Blake, a no-nonsense police detective investigating a rash of serial killings in her small college town of Baxter. Specifically, the killer is targeting young couples who visit the community's Lovers Lane area.

And these killings follow a specific pattern: 1. A gorgeous young couple visits Lovers Lane, makes quick work of their clothes and inhibitions, and makes passionate love (Yeah!). 2. One or both participants in the sordid union is brutally killed (No!).

Of course, the real mystery is why the college only seems to accepts applications from really hot people. I mean, it's not a modelling school. Oh well. . .

The murder case is particularly tough for Blake, whose sister was killed in a similar fashion 10 years before. And she's further troubled by the prospect of FBI intervention in her case.

That is, until she sees that the visiting FBI agent is Randy Spears; still looking sexy and showing solid acting skills in this role.

As these two get on the case (and, eventually, each other), many of Blake's college classmates return to Baxter for their 10-year reunion (Yep, many porns don't even have one plot; this one has two. Bonus!).

These include Evan Stone, whose character harbors a crush on old flame Blake but eventually sleeps with another comely classmate going through a divorce (Gee, can I get married then get divorced, just so Evan Stone can 'comfort' me?!).

The old gang has fun getting reacquainted and planning their big reunion bash, which is only days away. Yet these reunited classmates are also at risk of incurring the killer's wrath, as the murderer could have a link to their shared past.

With the sex scenes omitted, "Lovers Lane" stands on its own as a solid piece of cinema. With the sex included, we also get to see Evan, Randy, Chris Cannon, Talon, and Eric Masterson in the buff (And OK Guys, you get to see Devinn, who should receive a best actress AVN Award for her performance, Ava, Jessica, etc., etc.) Either way, it's a great flick and highly recommended.
